Wendy and the Pirates

I know I upload a lot of night time shots and it's true that's one of my major passions of Disney World photography but I am also very passionate about dark ride shots. It is rides like this however that push even my D800 and 2.8 lenses to the limit. Really for a ride like this it would be optimal to have a Nikon D4 with a 35mm 1.4 lens attached. I don't think I'll be able to afford that purchase possibly ever, but I am accepting donations and sponsorships at this time! (lol) I have actually rented the 35 1.4 in the past and it worked really great on the D800, but it would be nice to have a D4 to whip out just for dark ride shots as I believe the noise at higher iso is a bit nicer.

Of course for this ride, getting any usable shot is something to be celebrated. In this case I did a bit of trickery to get both the pirates and Wendy in focus. I shot single point focus and fired first when Wendy was in the point of focus and again when the pirates were the point of focus. The angle was close enough I was then able to blend the two shots to get a really nice in focus shot from Wendy to the pirates, and even the Croc is looking pretty good. Anyway, I hope some of my fellow dark ride shooters will really appreciate this shot from a technical standpoint and I hope the rest of you enjoy it too. Thanks for looking!
